Tickets for the 2020 Trampoline Europeans and what happened next

In early December 2019 we reported that tickets for the 2020 European Championships in trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline in Gothenburg would go on sale on Monday 9 December at 10am. At the time, the event looked set to be one of the trampoline highlights of an Olympic year.

What was planned

The championships were due to take place in Gothenburg in May 2020, with individual and synchronised trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline events for seniors and juniors. Sweden has a strong trampoline community, and organisers expected good crowds.

What happened

Three months after ticket sales opened, the pandemic stopped international sport. The Gothenburg championships could not take place in May 2020 and were moved into 2021. Ticket holders had to follow refund and exchange arrangements as the situation developed.

Why we keep this story

Old ticket announcements are often the pages people find when they search for an event years later. Rather than a dead link, this page explains what became of the event.

Trampoline in an Olympic year

Trampoline gymnastics has been part of the Olympic programme since 2000. In 2020, many of the athletes heading to Gothenburg were also chasing Olympic places, which made the cancellation especially disruptive.

If you are new to the discipline

Trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline are three related but very different disciplines. Our explainer on all three covers how they are judged and what to look for.
