Discipline

TeamGym

Floor, tumbling and trampette, performed as a team.

TeamGym

TeamGym is a European team discipline in which gymnasts compete together on floor, tumbling and trampette. Uniformity is central: judges reward teams whose members perform with matching quality and timing.

The three apparatus

- Floor: a group routine to music, with formations, balances, jumps and acrobatic elements. - Tumbling: three rounds of six gymnasts each, with the third round usually featuring the most difficult passes. - Trampette: three rounds of six gymnasts each, with vaults over a table or straight jumps into a landing area.

Scoring

Teams receive difficulty, execution and composition scores, with deductions for lack of uniformity. A single weaker gymnast affects the whole team.

Where it comes from

TeamGym developed in the Nordic countries, which remain its strongest nations. It has spread across Europe, with strong programmes in Great Britain, Portugal and elsewhere.
