Davtyan takes vault gold as Nemour edges Zhang for beam title at Worlds

In the concluding day of apparatus competition in Rotterdam, Armenia’s Artur Davtyan and Algeria’s Kaylia Nemour secured gold medals in the men’s vault and women’s balance beam events, respectively.

Men’s Vault

Davtyan executed both his Dragulescu and Randi vaults with precision, achieving an average score of 14.850 to claim the championship title. Jake Jarman from Great Britain followed closely, earning a silver medal with a score of 14.650, which complemented his silver from the floor exercise the previous day.

Norway’s Sebastian Sponevik took home the bronze medal, scoring 14.366 after two impressive vaults. He narrowly outperformed Arsenii Dukhno of WG2 and Ukraine’s Nazar Chepurnyi, both of whom averaged 14.350. Defending champion Carlos Yulo unfortunately fell during his first vault, a piked Dragulescu.

Balance Beam

Kaylia Nemour added the beam gold to her title on the uneven bars, narrowly defeating the defending champion Zhang Qingying of China. Both gymnasts received scores of 14.566, but Nemour triumphed based on execution tiebreak rules.

This victory marks Nemour’s first World Championship gold medal on the balance beam, having finished second to Zhang in this same event last year in Jakarta.

Flavia Saraiva of Brazil earned the bronze medal with a score of 14.300, marking her first World medal on the balance beam. Just missing the podium, Elena Colas from France posted a score of 14.100, while Manila Esposito of Italy, a bronze medalist at the Paris Olympics, finished fifth with a score of 14.066.
