The United States have won every world women's team title since 2011, seven in a row. In Rotterdam they try to make it eight with the least experienced team they have sent to a World Championships with a team event in fifteen years.

Squad

  • Skye Blakely – two-time world team champion
  • Claire Pease
  • Charleigh Bullock
  • Reese Esponda
  • Dulcy Caylor – replaced Hezly Rivera

Rivera's withdrawal

Hezly Rivera, the youngest member of the Paris 2024 Olympic team and a two-time US all-around champion, withdrew on 17 October with a left ankle injury. She had sprained the same ankle after the 2025 US Championships, which kept her out of the 2025 Worlds. Dulcy Caylor, the travelling reserve, replaces her.

Without Rivera, the US roster has no gymnast with Olympic experience. NBC Sports notes that this has not happened at a World Championships with a team event since 2011, the year the current streak began.

A new generation

Skye Blakely is the only member of the team who has competed in a world team final. Claire Pease, Charleigh Bullock and Reese Esponda are making their senior global championship debuts. Pease, Blakely and Bullock were the top three all-arounders at the selection event. The team is led on the floor by Betty Okino and Chellsie Memmel.

Two streaks on the line

- Team: seven consecutive world titles, from 2011 to 2023. - All-around: a US woman has won an all-around medal at every Olympic Games and World Championships since 2003, 23 in a row.

With Simone Biles and Suni Lee not competing, and the defending champion Angelina Melnikova absent after being refused a visa, the all-around streak is very much in play.

LA28 stakes

As host, the United States has one guaranteed individual Olympic place per gender, but no team place. A top-three finish among eligible nations in the team final on 21 October would secure it. See our LA28 qualification guide.
