The 30th European Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships took place in Montpellier, France, from 23 to 27 May 2012.
Great Britain’s double
Great Britain won the senior team title and the junior team title. For British men’s gymnastics it was a landmark result two months before the London Olympics, where the team won bronze.
Apparatus champions
The six apparatus finals went to six gymnasts from five nations: – Floor: Eleftherios Kosmidis (Greece) – Pommel horse: Krisztián Berki (Hungary) – Rings: Aleksandr Balandin (Russia) – Vault: Flavius Koczi (Romania) – Parallel bars: Marcel Nguyen (Germany) – Horizontal bar: Emin Garibov (Russia)
Berki and Nguyen both won Olympic medals in London: Berki gold on pommel horse, Nguyen silver in the all-around and on parallel bars.
Montpellier as a host
Montpellier later hosted the 2015 European Championships, a combined men’s and women’s individual event.
