The 7th European Aerobic Gymnastics Championships took place in Bucharest, Romania, from 9 to 13 November 2011, with senior and junior competitions.
Home titles for Romania
Oana Corina Constantin won the women’s individual title, and the Romanian trio of Tudorel Valentin Mavrodineanu, Mircea Zamfir and Petru Porime Tolan won the trio event. Both were important results for a federation that has led aerobic gymnastics for most of its history.
Other champions
Ivan Parejo of Spain won the men’s individual event. The French pair Aurélie Joly and Julien Chaninet won mixed pairs, and Russia won the group event.
Why Bucharest
Romania’s aerobic programme has produced world and European champions across all categories. Hosting the Europeans gave its younger gymnasts the experience of competing at home at senior level.
