Worlds bronze medalist Sergei Naidin ‘incredibly happy it turned out this way’

Sergei Naidin, a Russian gymnast, achieved a commendable third-place finish on the horizontal bar during the recent World Championships held in Rotterdam. He noted that while he felt his performance could have been even better, it was still a remarkable accomplishment worthy of celebration.

“The routine was executed perfectly, but the landing lacked that final ‘stick,’ so it ended up being a bronze medal, unfortunately,” Naidin remarked following the apparatus finals on October 25. “Still, I’m incredibly happy that it turned out this way.”

Representing the World Gymnastics 2 team, the 25-year-old Naidin previously competed in his first and only world championship in 2021 in Kitakyushu. In that event, he placed 12th on the pommel horse, ranked 24th on parallel bars, and finished 66th on the horizontal bar during the qualification round.

Naidin views his bronze medal in Rotterdam as a significant improvement and a personal milestone. “Five years ago, I didn’t even make it to the final,” he said. “It’s pretty cool. This is my first final and my first medal.”
