Chinese Taipei’s Tang Chia-hung on world horizontal bar win: ‘I just wanted to enjoy the vibe’

Tang Chia-hung of Chinese Taipei finally achieved gold in the horizontal bar event at the World Championships in Rotterdam on Sunday, marking a significant milestone in his career.

“I’ve made the final three times, and first two times I did not perform really great,” Tang remarked. “This is my first world championships medal, and the first is gold. It means a lot to me.”

The 30-year-old gymnast, who had previously finished fifth in 2018 and eighth in 2019 in the same event, indicated that a relaxed approach was key to his success during the final in Rotterdam. This victory also reinvigorates Tang, who won a bronze medal on the same apparatus at the 2024 Olympics.

“Today I just wanted to enjoy the vibe and the competition, and do whatever I train at home,” he explained. “I did it and I will keep going.”
