Skye Blakely of the U.S. on Worlds team silver: ‘I wanted to deliver for these girls’

Following the U.S. team’s silver medal performance in the team final at the World Championships in Rotterdam, Skye Blakely expressed her commitment to utilizing her experience and leadership for her teammates’ advantage.

“I wanted to deliver for these girls most importantly,” remarked Blakely, who is 21 years old and part of the gold medal-winning U.S. team at both the 2022 and 2023 Worlds. ‘Help me do this for these girls.’

In the team final, Blakely served as the anchor on the three apparatuses she participated in: vault, uneven bars, and balance beam. She achieved the highest U.S. scores on both vault and uneven bars. In her previous appearances at the World Championships, she only competed on balance beam in 2022 and uneven bars in 2023.

“I feel like I’ve grown so much from my first two Worlds,” Blakely shared. “Just my mindset and how I handle pressure situations. My normal is enough. So I feel like I was able to go out there and just be in the moment, and enjoy the moment. And I couldn’t be any prouder of that.”
